Reports confirm that beloved comedic actor Steve Martin welcomed a little bundle of joy with wife Anne Stringfield back in December - the couple managed to keep the pregnancy very secret and were just recently spotted out on the streets of L.A. with their newborn baby. This is the 67-year-old "Parenthood" star's first child.
According to a Page Six report, Martin (real name, Stephen Glenn) and 41-year-old Stringfeld welcomed their first baby (whose gender and name have yet to be revealed) sometime back in December. The media never even caught on to the fact that Stringfield was pregnant. An inside source claims:
"They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. Steve's very private... They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby."
The couple was recently spotted out with the baby near their L.A. home.
Martin (a popular actor, comedian, novelist, producer, and musician) secretly married Stringfield (a former New Yorker editor) in a private July 2007 wedding ceremony. Only close family and friends attended the "surprise party" at Martin's L.A. home, including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton. Martin divorced his first wife, actress Victoria Tennant, in 1994 after eight years of marriage. The couple do not have any children together.
Martin once wrote this about his own relationship with his father (Glenn Vernon Martin, real estate salesman and aspiring actor):
"My father's attitude toward my show-business accomplishments was critical. After my first appearance on 'Saturday Night Live' . . . he wrote a bad review of me in the newsletter of the Newport Board of Realtors where he was president... [But] in his death, my father . . . did something he could not do in life. He brought our family together."
A rep for Martin declined to comment any further about the newborn child and pregnancy.
Congrats to the happy couple on the exciting baby news!
