Michelle Jenneke's pre-race warmup dance has garnered the Australian hurdler a lot of attention and recently led to her own photo shoot for "Sports Illustrated" magazine's coveted "Swimsuit Edition." The 19-year-old's enthusiasm and cheeriness translates well into the photoshoot and she was even encouraged to do her famous dance for a few shots. She admits that her fame based on a warmup routine is a bit surprising to her, but she has embraced all that has come with it and seems to be really enjoying herself.
Not only did Jenneke get to become a model, she has also seen other fame from a viral video that she filmed with theChive.com. The video shows one of the Chive guys getting to play video games, eat pancakes, and, of course, dance with Michelle in a funny take on the world's infatuation with the young hurdler.
Other than dancing before races, Michelle actually does race in both 100-meter hurdle events and sprint medley relays. She is pretty darn good, too! In 2010 Michelle won 1st place in the Australian Junior Champions 100-meter race and 4 by 100-meter relay. She even set an Australian record in the latter. Michelle placed 5th in the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics and basically took over the world with her pre-race dance. Yes it always comes back to the dance.
AskMen.com had Michelle ranked number 10 on the site's "99 Most Desirable Women of 2013." Clearly she has stuck in the minds of men around the world. So what is next for the still-very-young Australian hurdler? Perhaps she will see how much she can get out of a career in modeling. There will probably be many more opportunities for her in "Sports Illustrated" considering she is an accomplished and popular athlete. Even if she doesn't model, she can probably get work doing commercials. She is definitely attractive enough to become the face or body of something. Just look at the .GIF above and try not to get sucked into her movements. She is simply mesmerizing. What is even better about the .GIF above is that right after her dance she turned into a hurdling machine in order to win the race. It works! She become loose and limber enough to impressively clear the hurdles. Right now it looks like Jenneke will continue her hurdling career. Her happy demeanor and amazing looks will definitely help her outside of her athletics so make sure to keep an eye out for her.
