Hugh Jackman has been rumored to be gay ever since his big break in X-Men and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, is getting pretty sick of it. According to Hugh, who just laughs off the gay gossip, the speculation "bugs" Deb who recently opened up to her husband saying, "It's big. It's everywhere!" In 2011, however, Furness was singing a different tune, saying that the rumors of her husband's sexuality did not faze her at all:

"The line I heard was, 'Wolverine? Who would have thought?' Hugh and I don't pay much. It's kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than to gossip about people they don't know."

So maybe all of the tabloids got to her over the last year or 2 and she is fed up. The 44-year-old X-Men star's sexuality has been a hot topic thanks to the roles he has taken. Jackman's portrayal of homosexual Australian songwriter Peter Allen in the award winning Broadway musical "The Boy from Oz," was what really got the gossip going. He became a huge Broadway success and hosted the Tony Awards 3 years in a row. Jackman also hosted the Oscars, which he filled with song and dance. People basically just assumed that a man that suddenly showed a huge interest in musicals, partnered with success and enthusiasm, had to be gay. Plus he works out A LOT. Look at the picture at the top of this page. That is a very recent shot of Jackman on the set of The Wolverine. So with his abilities to sing, dance, act, and sculpt his body into perfection, all signs seem to be pointing at "gay." His most recent role as Jean Valjean in 2012's Les Miserables, has garnered Hugh with an Oscar nomination for best actor. This film was of course the big screen adaptation of the famous musical. Again, Jackman showed off his singing ability and yes he is amazing in the role. Most importantly, the gay community loves and embraces Hugh for his portrayals. That is apparently even more of a reason to assume he is gay, too.

But despite all of this "evidence," it seems like the fact that Hugh has a family is reason to accept his heterosexuality. Not only does he have a wife (and two kids), but also he is head over heels in love with her. Hugh regularly gushes about Deborra and recently opened up about her with this statement:

"When I met Deb, it was 10 times better than my single life. She was very beautiful. She was unbelievably fun -- this energy, this spirit -- irrepressible. And she had a confidence in herself. I had a massive crush on her instantly. She was sort of the opposite of me. I was very 'Even Steven,' and she was thrilling to me. I was always really attracted to that -- though at one point, as it was getting really serious, it terrified me."

So it seems like the rumors are false, but I am sure they will keep coming and Jackman will keep being an attractive man who likes to sing. I personally loved him as Jean Valjean, so please keep it up, Hugh.
