Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith gave a hefty $150,000 donation to Minister Farrakhan's upcoming Justice Or Else march. The Hollywood power couple gave the large donation to support the march, which honors the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March, taking place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The veteran minister requires $1.8 million in order to fund the march for racial justice, and thanks to the Smiths, has now made a decent dent in the costs.
Farrakhan sent a thank you to the Smiths in Philadelphia during a rally earlier this month, as the news was revealed on Twitter in recent weeks. He has been encouraging followers, fans, and supporters to continue donating, so that they may reach their goal before the anniversary date, Oct. 16.
The website for the march penned details on the event for those seeking to support the movement. The widespread death, rising racism, mob attacks and police brutality on blacks coupled with economic deprivation and stark poverty, requires that something must be immediately done to address and correct the condition.
"Justice should never look at your color. Justice should never look at your position or posture. Justice should have on one side of the scale the weight of facts and on the other side our actions in accord with those facts. When you have liberty but not justice then there is no joy in being free,” the site pens.
The march is going to be a lot more prevelant this year, being that the #BlackLivesMatter movement has come full circle in the last year, with many more cases of police brutality having been caught on video and released to the public. Many other artists and entertainers have been showing their support of the movement, along with many hip-hop moguls helping to lead protests and marches.
