Reports confirm that University of Alabama Crimson Tide football players Tyler Hayes, Eddie Williams, D.J. Pettway, and Brent Calloway  were recently charged with two counts of second-degree robbery after violently beating up and stealing from two fellow students. One of the alleged victims, Samuel Jurgens, recently spoke with the University's student newspaper the Crimson White, revealing more details about the violent, bloody ordeal. Despite the heavy beating, Jurgens insists that he's always "gonna love Alabama football."

In an interview with the Crimson White in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday (Feb. 12), Jurgens explained that he was walking home Monday morning around 1 a.m. when a man stopped and asked him for a lighter. Jurgens replied that he didn't have one, and the man asked the same question again. After repeating "No" a second time, Jurgens was suddenly attacked:

"That's when I guess something happened. I woke up, my face was swollen, I had cuts, and I had a concussion. Police say that's probably when they hit me; I just know right after that I lost consciousness and I regained consciousness on the sidewalk, staring at the sky... I apparently called (friend) Chris (Burks) while in that state. I don't have a recollection of that, but I told him something. Something bad has happened to me, I remember thinking before I faded out again."

When Burks arrived to the scene, he found a battered-up Jurgens on the sidewalk, his backpack (containing a laptop) gone:

"His left side of his face was gigantic," Burks told the CW. "The jacket he was wearing and his headphones were completely drenched in blood, the bottom half of his face was completely covered in blood; he was bleeding badly from his lip. He had clearly been badly beaten."

According to arrest warrants, Pettway (redshirt freshman, 20), Williams (freshman safety, 20), and Hayes (freshman linebacker, 18) attacked and robbed Jurgens as well as a student named Caleb Paul. The trio is accused of physically attacking Jurgens with "punches to the head and face" and "kicks to the ribs and back," as well as stealing his backpack. Running back Brent Calloway was also charged... all four players were suspended from the team by Coach Nick Saban

After the attack, Jurgens was diagnosed with a mild concussion and received stitches to close up his bottom lip.

Even so, Jurgens doesn't plan on letting the violent beating effect his education, and he still considers himself a diehard Crimson Tide football fan:

"It's almost like they were doing it for fun, because it seemed weird that they didn't rob me of my wallet or phone or keys. But, I just know they sure did an efficient job because I can't recall parts of it even today...

This was just a matter of chance. I'm still gonna love Alabama football. I just want to deal with this case, move on with my life," Jurgens told The Crimson White. "I just want to get on with my education. I want to continue being happy here. I was happy here before, and I will continue being happy here."
