After Wendy Williams revealed some shocking news on her show this week, MStars News has learned that deaths have tripled from people using synthetic marijuana. MStars News previously reported that Williams told her audience on Monday that her 14-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was addicted to synthetic marijuana and could have been one of those statistics. According to Newsweek, synthetic marijuana deaths tripled. From the months of January to May of 2015, 15 people died from using synthetic cannabinoids, which is an increase from 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported.

There have been a number of calls to poison centers about marijuana in the past year, which is why the federal government believes it is a threat to public health that needs to end.

Synthetic marijuana is dangerous because of the man-made "psychoactive chemicals sprayed on plant material, which is then cut and smoked or eaten."

The synthetic cannabinoids are referred to and sold as "synthetic marijuana, spice, K2, black mamba or crazy clown," the CDC explains.

New types of synthetics are currently being brought to the market. You can have easy access to the drug because it's available online and in head shops, making it a challenge for the government to outlaw them as a whole.

Williams previously described her son's drug use.

“It’s one of those pens where you don’t see the smoke, and you don’t smell anything,” Williams revealed to her audience. “I’m trying to make funny on the tour, but in actuality my heart is breaking, and my kid could have been dead.”

The worried mother even claimed that her son was "turned out...to the point where he went off the rails for a moment."

Some of the major side effects include seizures, hallucinations, and brain damage. Williams and her husband learned of their son's drug use by searching his room, and said that he was introduced to the drug by “a loved one who he looked up to.”

Williams encouraged parents to be in their children's lives and know what's going on with them. She also revealed that her son received treatment at a rehabilitation facility outside of the country.
