Former Suns and Lakers guard, and two-time MVP, Steve Nash, is currently in negotiations with the Golden State Warriors to join as a part-time player development consultant.
According to ESPN, Nash was not originally planning to go into coaching after officially announcing his decision to retire back in March. However, he has been aggressively pursued recently by Warriors coach Steve Kerr, and team president, Rick Welts to spend a few days per month with the team to work on skills with individual players.
Nash and the Warriors are in the process of finalizing a deal to make Nash an occasional tutor to the Golden State Warriors' guards. Kerr, Welts and current Warriors player development coach, Bruce Fraser (with whom Nash worked quite closely with during his days in Phoenix) managed to convince him to consider joining the NBA's reigning champions for a part-time position.
Apparently, the Dallas Mavericks were hoping to get Nash to consider changing his retirement decision to reunite him with Dirk Nowitzki as a spot-duty point guard for the 2015-2016 NBA season. ESPN also reported that last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers tried to persuade Nash as well. They attempted to urge Nash for a buyout contract from the Lakers allowing him to team up with LeBron James in Cleveland as a third point guard.
However, Nash consistently stated that if he were physically capable, he would only play for the Lakers. Prior to his retirement declaration, Nash was limited to 65 regular-season games in two seasons with the Lakers due to a stubborn and enfeebled nerve condition that afflicted him since his broken leg injury as a Laker three years ago.
Nash working with the Warriors is a perfect fit for the former shooting guard. To work with Warriors star guard Stephen Curry, whom Nash is a big fan of, considering the comparisons between the two guards, as well as fellow Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson, with whom Nash shares an agent (Bill Duffy), it only makes sense.
Now, the 2014-15 NBA MVP, Stephen Curry, seems pretty excited.
According to Bleacher Report, on Wednesday Curry posted a picture of him and Nash on the court together a few years back with the following caption: "Finally we get a decent coach around here...[eyes emoji]."

Apparently, Curry is just having some fun at the expense of his coaches. Although, there were some questions about whether or not Steve Kerr was the right choice for the Warriors job, after leading the Warriors to a champtionship in his first season as coach after a 44 years slump, those concerns have vanished.
Perhaps this is just Curry's way of getting back at Kerr for telling Katie Nolan of Fox Sports that he would be willing to trade the newest Curry, Ryan Carson, earlier this summer.
