Maria Menounos might have thought that she was just getting a new job when she signed on to be the host of E! News, but little did she know that she was getting herself into a pretty dramatic situation. The media has been having a frenzy with the former host of Extra coming in to take over the position from Giuliana Rancic, saying that these two TV hosts have been in a feud for years and this was just the last straw. However, while a lot of sources have been speaking out to comment on the alleged fight between the starlets, Menounos has come out of the woodwork to say her piece on the situation.

According to Us Weekly, the 41-year-old star has revealed that when she was told of the position that the network explained to her that she wasn't being hired to replace Rancic whatsoever.

In a new interview with Redbook, Menounos explained what really happened behind the scenes.

"When I was being sought after by E!, I made it very clear to them that I didn't want to be coming over to take somebody's job," the hostess explained, adding, "I was assured that wasn't the case."

The former Extra host, who we reported would be the new host of E! News back in July, also made sure to point out the double standard between men and women when it comes to things like beating someone out for a job promotions.

"That's always been important to me," Menounos explained of making sure to have poise when accepting job offers. "I remember years ago, I was asked to replace someone with a sick child. I was young and it would have been a huge job for me, but I told them I couldn't take it. I have a pretty strict code with these kinds of things. If a guy beats another guy out for job, it's like, Hey, congratulations. With women, it's a different story."
