Charlie Sheen wired $10,000 over to Teagan Marti and her family once he learned of the 15-year-old Florida girl's condition both physically and financially after her 100-foot plummet from a Wisconsin amusement park ride in 2010. Marti's family reached out to the actor through a close family connection in order to try and raise $6,000 for the training and costs of a therapy dog. Though only asked for any donation towards the costs, Sheen decided to give more for extra costs.

Teagan Marti did not have much of an idea on who Charlie Sheen was until the family reached out to him. This week, in response to his large donation, Marti said, "I think he's a very kind person for helping me and my family and very generous." In July 2010, Teagan and her parents drove up from Florida to "Extreme World" in Wisconsin Dells after the Discovery Channel showed the park's "Terminal Velocity" ride on one of its shows. This attraction was a free-fall ride where nets and airbags catch the riders. They were not raised when Teagan was free-falling, dropping her 100 and resulting in her suffering brain, spine, pelvis and internal injuries. After 3 months of hospitalization in Wisconsin and Florida, she went through physical therapy and regained her ability to walk again with a walker.

Teagan's mother, Julie Marti, said the family's financial situation is bad after medical bills and a recent divorce. Also, their house is about to be foreclosed upon and now insurance is not covering Teagan's physical therapy, so they were very worried about getting a helper dog. Thankfully, the Martis have a connection to the Hollywood star. After the accident, Lucia Wilgus became friends with the Martis and took charge of the fundraiser and search for the English Golden Retriever puppy. Wilgus contacted a family friend who turned out to be Charlie Sheen's godfather, then extending the cause to the actor. So Sheen gave $10,000 to the family because of the "personal vibe," considering it came through his godfather. He also said, "If there's a need for more I told them to call me." Charlie who does not like to discuss his charitable actions, but felt this situation warranted attention that could lead to more donations, elaborated on this story with the following:

"I like to pay it forward. People come into your orbit for a reason. You don't always know what that is ahead of time, but if I ignore these requests then I don't have any opportunity to see where these things lead us, or lead me."

Teagan gets her therapy dog on her birthday in September but has yet to think of a name. "I think they should name the dog Charlie," Sheen offered.
