Sarah Michelle Gellar is coming back to television in the CBS workplace comedy "Crazy Ones" opposite Robin Williams. The former "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" star will be playing Williams' daughter, Sydney Roberts, and the show focuses on the dynamics between the father and daughter. Sydney is the "life and soul" of the 'Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency' in "Crazy Ones," and she spends her time parenting her father, Simon Roberts, while also trying to become him. The show is a single-camera production and David E. Kelly will write the pilot. The 35-year-old Gellar recently starred in the CW drama "Ringer," which was cancelled in the spring of 2012 after a short-lived airing.
NBC is bringing the story of Hannibal Lecter to the small screen in a new, modern take with "Hannibal." The thriller stars Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (best known for his role as James Bonds' antagonist in 2006's Casino Royale) as the notorious serial killer. As usual, Lecter is brought into a murder investigation as a consultant. The show also stars Hugh Dancy as Special Agent Will Graham and Laurence Fishbourne as Agent Jack Crawford. "Hannibal" premieres Thursday April 4, at 10 p.m.
Ellie Kemper from "The Office" is set to star in NBC's "Brenda Forever." This pilot will introduce us to Brenda, a 31-year-old woman who grew up from being a chubby teenager. The series will involve flashbacks to a 13-year-old Brenda dealing with her awkwardness as well as her present storyline of how she has grown as a woman and still "does her own thing."
Rising star Emma Roberts is set to star in the pilot for FOX's "Delirium," based off of the successful novel of the same name written by Lauren Oliver. Roberts stars as Lena, a girl living in an alternate reality where love is seen as a disease and is "cured" with a procedure done at the age of 18. Lena, however is stricken with this "illness" before her 18th birthday and fights against the movement against love. There is also the role of "Alex," the love interest, which has yet to be filled.
Last but certainly not least, "Friday Night Lights" star, Kyle Chandler, is returning to television in Showtime's "Vatican." The show already cast the terrifyingly underrated Matthew Goode and is being compared to "The Sopranos" and "Upstairs, Downstairs." Chandler is set to star as Cardinal Thomas Duffy, "the charismatic yet enigmatic Archbishop of New York, whose progressive leanings (he has ordained a woman) excite some and alarm others within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church."
