Ryan Reynolds Daughter James Calls Him “Mama”: ‘Deadpool’ Star Talks Being New Dad

Ryan Reynolds opened up about his daughter James, who calls him "mama." The actor revealed that he has "lost all cool" as a new dad when the Deadpool actor sat down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, where he talked all about his new life as a father to his little girl, as well as being a husband to his wife of three years, Blake Lively.

Reynolds revealed in his interview that his daughter is now saying the word “mama” already, but unfortunately for him, his little girl also calls him “mama” instead of “dada.”

"She's saying mama. My wife doesn't realize though that she calls me mama, too,” he admitted.

When he caught wind that his almost-year-old daughter was calling him a feminine name, not knowing the difference between her mom and dad, he admitted to sitting her down and having a talk with her.

"I had to literally sit [James] down and tell her penises don't work that way...she understands. She gets it,” he shared with viewers and the audience.

Reynolds also talked about how becoming a dad has made him "lost all cool" these days, with a hilarious story:

"I'm like a dad guy now ... About a month ago, I was sitting in traffic and I was just jamming 'These Dreams' by Heart. I was killing it in the car," he says, before revealing that he saw a bunch of students on a bus hysterically laughing at him.

Lively gave birth to James just before the New Years last year, with the two keeping details about their new bundle of joy pretty private. The two have been quietly raising their new baby, but this week, Reynolds revealed that a close friend of his from his childhood tried to sell photos of James to the media. In an interview, the actor revealed that he had to cut ties to the friend when he learned of the news, and that he will no longer be speaking to the person.

Lively and Reynolds have not shared many details on their little girl, so fans are always excited when the two open up on anything regarding their brand new little girl. Hopefully we will be able to get some footage of their baby in the near future.
