A vicious attack occurred in a Laundromat in the Bronx over the weekend, involving a disgruntled boyfriend assaulting Derrick Dunn and his 6-year-old daughter with mace. The suspect, Fernando Gonzalez, quickly surrendered to police only a few hours later after the following surveillance footage was released by The New York Police Department:
As you can see from the footage, at around 6:10 p.m. the attacker bursts into the laundry shop on White Plains Rd., finds Dunn and starts attacking the 47-year-old man. According to the police, Dunn is believed to have been in an altercation with Gonzalez's girlfriend earlier in the evening. Earlier reports suggested an argument over a laundry cart but more recent accounts say that the two had gotten into a "heated row" over the use of a laundry card. Either way, the unnamed woman contacted her boyfriend, Fernando, and he came for revenge. This must have been some spectacular laundry card because Gonzalez came armed with a mace canister. After pummeling Dunn, Gonzalez takes out his canister of mace and sprays his victim. This insanely loyal boyfriend then turned his mace spray on another victim: the very confused and scared 6-year-old daughter of Dunn. Because nothing says, "I love my girlfriend," like ruining a child's life. As you can see from the surveillance footage, Gonzalez got a few more hits in on another person as he left the building, too. Another weird thing (because this whole situation is weird considering he USED MACE ON A CHILD) was the fact that after this man assaulted an unsuspecting guy and daughter, he casually grabs his phone, probably to contact his crazy girlfriend. Fernando Gonzalez was charged with assault. There has been no word on Dunn's or his daughter's condition.
So just to sum everything up: a grown man ended up spraying mace in the face of a 6-year-old girl because of a laundry card. This is honestly one of the most disgusting stories I have ever heard. Since Fernando Martinez is charged with assault, I hope that charges include the fact that the attack was also on a child. And maybe it gets taken to court where he is found guilty and sent to prison. Then the other prisoners find out about how he used mace on a 6-year-old girl in a Laundromat because his girlfriend was mad. Do you see where I am going with this? Fingers crossed!
