Judy Viger, a 33-year-old mother, has been charged with 5 counts of child endangerment after reportedly hiring 2 strippers to perform lap dances for partygoers at her son's 16th birthday celebration at a local bowling alley. The party took place in a private room at the Spare Time Bowling Center in South Glens Falls, New York, on November 3, 2012. Pictures surfaced recently and Vigers, who was arrested on Monday, faces up to a year in prison upon conviction.
Police described the strippers' dances for the party guests as "personal and intimate," and elaborated by saying, "Several kids at the party got lap dances." In case the first description of the dances was not clear. There were about 80 people in attendance of this 16th birthday party and some of the guests were as young as 13. Of those 80 guests, numerous adults were in attendance and later said they were outraged by the whole ordeal, but did not report the party or Viger. A 15-year-old boy who had attended had some of the party photos on his Facebook page. This boy's mother found these lewd pictures, nearly 4 months after they were taken, and contacted South Glens Falls authorities. Saratoga county District Attorney, James Murphy explains the charges against Viger in the following statement:
"The charges stem from an allegation that she endangered not only the welfare of her own child, but the welfare of the 14- and 15-year-old children that were at the birthday party as well."
According to "Tops in Bottoms," the company that provided the 2 strippers for Viger, the dancers were not aware that the guests that they were stripping for were underage. The strippers also feel that this whole situation is being "blown out of proportion." "Tops in Bottoms" is apparently not facing any charges for the incident and is fully cooperating with authorities, according to police. The Spare Time Bowling Center is also looking at some criminal charges for having alcohol on the premises while strippers performed. Judy Viger is due in court on March 7.
Clearly this was the best night of at least one 13-year-old boy's life. Also, if there were 80 people there, do you think some teenage girls were there as well? I am just curious. Perhaps Viger's son did not have any female friends so she got him the next best thing: hired, half-naked "friends" who like to dance a lot. It seems like Judy Viger was trying to be a "cool mom" or something like that but went in an extremely wrong direction.
