Carly Rae Jepsen is showing off a few behind the scenes photos of her music video shoot for her latest single, "Tonight I'm Getting Over You." The 27-year-old pop star has always been adamant about sharing with her fans, so by creating a Facebook photo album with these 9 pictures she has really given the world a special glimpse into her next big venture. The photos hardly take away from the final product, but they definitely allow us to at least understand the overall theme of what is sure to be a milestone music video for the Canadian songstress.
As you can see from the slideshow provided below, Carly is still sporting her iconic look of big bangs, big eyes and cute outfits. There is also an attractive male lead in most of the pictures, so there will be something for the ladies to look at. All in all, it looks like it will be a normal music video but who knows what tricks could be up Jepsen's sleeves.
In order to fully prepare myself for this post, I listened to "Tonight I'm Getting Over You," and I must say that the song is not what I expected. The single hit radio February 19, 2013, and has been doing well with critics and fans. It is definitely a step in the direction away from the pop genre that her previous sensation, "Call Me Maybe," had taken her. This is the fourth single off of her debut album Kiss, and could become a staple in clubs. Jepsen's music has always bordered on techno-esque and with "Tonight..." she jumps right into it. It is reminiscent of Robyn in a way. This song even has some dubstep aspects to it. Lyrically, it is still easily accessible for radio and pop music fans. The song is about getting over an ex by dancing with someone new. Very cut-and-dry but still fresh enough to become something great. Could this be Jepsen's biggest hit since her "Call Me Maybe" fame? The singer has been touring non-stop since her celebrity rose, so she is doing fine, but with a song like this and a music video that looks like a winner, perhaps we will forget about her first hit. Most likely not, but it is fun to think about.
The music video for "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" premieres Friday February 22, 2013. Carly Rae was recently nominated for 5 Juno Awards: JUNO Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year. Also, she is nominated for stealing my heart and is favored to win. Wait, what?
