MStars News has learned that the family of Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, released a statement following her suicide this week. The family revealed that they were devastated by her death, and said that they "will miss her terribly."

According to People, the statement from White's family said: "The family of Cathriona White sincerely regret the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister."

The statement released by the Irish Independent continued, "Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family. We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss. There will be no further statements on behalf of the family."

MStars News previously learned that Carrey also released a statement after learning that his ex had apparently had a drug overdose after they broke up.

The Dumb and Dumber actor said: "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona."

His statement continued, "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

We first learned of the makeup artist's death on Tuesday after White was found by friends.

The Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner, Ed Winter, revealed that White had been pronounced dead on Monday in her home: "Ms. White was found at 8:40pm local time on Monday, September 28, at her home in Sherman Oaks," Winter noted.

White's friend called for help around 7:20 pm. "Ms. White was pronounced dead at the scene," the Irish Independent added.

An autopsy is being scheduled for sometime this week.

The 30-year-old and 53-year-old broke up for a second time last week, the same day White wrote her last tweet. Her message read: "Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest. (Peace and Love emoji) to yo(u) all

Carrey and White rekindled their romance in May of this year. White had moved from Ireland back in 2009, and met Carrey in 2012. They dated for a short period of time then, and broke up months later.
