Before its the official October premiere date, CBS has plans underway for the DC Comics superheroine Supergirl. In Episode 3, are Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist), Jimmy Olsen (Mechad Brooks) and Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) in a "love rhombus" triangle?
As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.
We also mentioned, the Witches of East End actress has landed the role as Lucy Lane. In the CBS drama, Lucy, who happens to be the sister of Lois Lane, is brash, funny and successful in her own right. Just like in the comics, Lucy will also be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen (Brooks), Dewan-Tatum is scheduled to make her appearance in the third episode.
In an interview with MTV, the True Blood actor dishes on Jimmy's relationship with Lucy, "As far as the dynamic that Lucy brings... we have a past. Basically, [James] came to National City, which is the equivalent to Los Angeles, from Metropolis, which is the equivalent of New York... but there's some unresolved issues between he and Lucy Lane, and some unrequited love there. When she shows up, it does kind of put a monkey wrench in he and Kara's relationship, as far as it goes, romantically. But there's - I like to call it a love rhombus, because you know, Kara's basically two people."
Brooks adds, "James really feels for Kara, he loves her and appreciates her, but at the same time, there's this other element to her where he doesn't feel familiar as a Kryptonian and a superhero. He's enamored by it; he's almost in love with Kara in two ways. And then you have Lucy Lane who comes back in, and that's the love rhombus."
