It looks like Megan Fox and Michael Bay have put their past problems behind them since the movie maker took to his website to announce the actress' new role: April O'Neil in the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' reboot. The two previously worked on the Transformers movies but Fox was not brought on for the third installment with Bay citing "personal differences." Perhaps it was because Megan Fox compared the producer/director to Adolf Hitler, saying Bay "wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So, he's a nightmare to work for." All of that aside, Bay's announcement this week seemed sincere and excited as he wrote, "TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!"
According to reports, the 26-year-old Fox accepted the role based off of storyboards by director Jonathan Liebesman who most recently directed the Bay-produced Wrath of the Titans. The studio also met with other actresses including Anna Kendrick, Jane Levy, and Elizabeth Olson but decided to go with Fox who just recently became a new mother. In the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, April O'Neil was a computer programmer but is better known as a news reporter thanks to the television incarnation of the Turtles.
A lot of controversy has surrounded this production. When an alleged script leaked onto the Internet, fans were outraged by what they saw. Michael Bay quickly calmed naysayers by announcing that the script that had leaked was a very rough first draft. Also, fans are not too happy with the plot details. Apparently this film will be centered on extraterrestrial beings instead of just actual sewer turtles turned into ninjas. I mean either idea is ridiculous but people love the original! Plus the main character is going to be Casey Jones instead of the turtles. The best way to think of it is how Shia LaBeouf's character in the Transformers films pretty much led around the giant robots. So like that but this time the main character is an amateur hockey player and security guard so he will be seeing plenty of action.
Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo have yet to be cast. Reports indicate that the studio is looking for relatively unknown actors for these roles. No word on how they will be portrayed, whether it be live action or CGI. My guess is the latter, considering we are talking about Michael Bay.
