A 21-year-old video of an early Rage Against the Machine Concert was recently uploaded on to YouTube by user CowProd.
The video shows RATM playing Zed's records in Long Beach, CA (You can tell it was a long time ago because "in-store shows" and "record stores" still existed. Also, Zach de La Rocha's dreads were wee baby tiny, y'all.)
For being filmed in a cramped record store, the 40-minute video is of surpisingly high quality, even taking advantage of a two camera set-up.
The band plays tracks from their eponymous first album, which was recently re-released as a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. The set list includes songs like "Bombtrack", "Take the Power Back", "Know Your Enemy", "Bullet in the Head", "Killing in the Name", "Freedom" and their first single, "Darkness."
The videographer says he has been "sitting on" in for this long because he is "lazy." The video was edited by CowProd's friend (known as "Chester Copperpot") and the second cameraman is referred to as Nanda.
While the recording probably would've been useful 10 or 15 years ago (or even last year, to coincide with the 20th anniversary buzz), when it comes to awesome finds like this the old saying is probably true:
Better late than never.
