After Will Smith announced that he is planning a tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff, the latter Fresh Prince star announced that he is participating in the Stand For School Equality rally in Brooklyn, where he will be working with the Families For Excellent Schools organization. Teaming up with the company, who is hosting the important rally, the veteran hip-hop DJ will be joining tons of families, students, and community leaders today for their right to a better education.
He spoke with HipHopDX in a statement regarding the event, "Each and every child deserves access to a great education. I'm standing with FES on Wednesday to support the equality of all schools. By creating an education system where every child has the opportunities and tools they need to succeed we can help fully prepare the next generation of great leaders and creatives.”
The purpose of the Stand For School Equality rally is to put an end to New York City’s separate and unequal schools. The event began at 9 a.m. this morning, but is currently in full effect, with Jeff on board to perform a DJ set for attendees. Along with a DJ set from the former Fresh Prince star, Jennifer Hudson will be headlining with a performance, as well as singer and songwriter Aloe Blacc, who is a guest speaker.

Jeff has spoken out on the importance of education and the issues of the educational system heavily in the last week leading up to the rally. He penned an op-ed piece on the issues with AllHipHop earlier this week.
Those participating in the marching part of the rally will be heading across the Brooklyn Bridge from the borough’s side, over into Manhattan, where they will end their journey at City Hall. Participants are working to try and convince the government that a revamp is needed in the New York educational system, as the public school system has been a big concern for students and parents of students over the years.
According to reports, there around 18,500 participants were attending the rally today.
