'Empire' Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson's 'Fires Of Heaven!'

Fox continues with the musical Season 2 drama of Empire. In Episode 3, the music industry will never be the same as Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and Luscious Lyon (Terrence Howard) suddenly feel the Fires of Heaven?

As the prosecutor is being grilled about her loss, Luscious makes fun of her as he steps out of jail. Cookie is too happy that Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray) is sleeping with his musical talent. While Luscious gives a rousing speech during his press conference, Hakeem performs his track on the radio. 

Luscious then makes a call on the same station but he isn't too happy about the album leak. Hakeem tries to push his new group way ahead of schedule. Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) invites his family over for dinner to meet with Luscious, who proposes war. If Cookie doesn't shut down Lyon Dynasty, Luscious promises to keep his family together. 

Cookie then pulls the table over off, knocking down the food and dishes.  Luscious meets with Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) next and tries to convince her to betray Lyon Dynasty. When he mentions Cookie's name, Anika has second doubts. Cookie and Hakeem gets into an argument over the girl group. 

Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) has a secret meeting with his father because he wants back with the family. Luscious wants something unique that no one else can bring him. Unfortunately, Luscious doesn't show up at the meeting to sign with the new musical talent, which causes the newbie and her entourage to leave. 

Jamal gets into an argument with his father because he didn't sign the new artist. Cookie and Anika talk about Luscious about his proposition. Knowing she has Anika in her fingertips, Cookie gets her to spill about Cookie's latest party. At the concert, the lights turn off and Cookie interrupts Jamal's performance to introduce Lyon Dynasty to the crowd.

As soon as Hakeem is done with his performance, Luscious orders security to kick them out. In the morning, Cookie tries to promote her group but the trio can't stand being together. Andre then tells Cookie that his wife is pregnant. She recommends Andre that he pulls at the heartstrings to get his father to accept him. 

Luscious then remembers what happened to his mother and worries about grandson. But even with the news, Luscious cannot accept Andre back. Memories of his father continue to haunt Luscious as he plays the piano. 

After Luscious rescues his new talent from at the police,  he starts to flirt with the prosecutor. He falls her bluff about Vernon's confession and the murder rap is just the beginning. 

Cookie tries to teach the girl group how to dance and perform but they can't work together. Finally, after much practice, the three are in sync with their moves. Luscious stops Jamal from meeting with his mother. Luscious offers himself to produce Jamal, his son only accepts if he pushes him to superstar status. 

Luscious bought the radio station and refuses to put on the girl group on. He also signed on the lead singer to his label. Without radio, how will Cookie get her music out to the world?

Luscious laughs knowing he actually defeated Cookie.
