News of Bradley Cooper's return to CBS's Limitless was revealed at the 2015 New York Comic Con. Cooper, who is an executive producer of the series, will reappear in the series with his role of Senator Edward Morra in the Oct. 27 episode (episode 6). Cooper played this role in the 2011 Limitless feature film. In the film, his character was a struggling writer who unlocks his brain's full potential after ingesting a drug known as NZT.
He also appeared in the series' pilot, with his character having graduated to a politico who provides Brian Finch, the new lead played by Jake McDorman, with a temporary inoculation from the severe side effects of the brain-enhancing drug.
According to TV Line, The news was announced by Limitless executive producer, Craig Sweeny, during the show's panel at New York Comic-Con. Even though viewers knew that Cooper's return was a possibility (since Cooper himself promised he'd be back), the rumor has now been confirmed.
"Bradley really has been so committed to the show and he has every intention of coming back," Sweeney told journalists last summer at the show's Television Critics Association press day. "We've been talking quite a bit about how to bring him back and in what capacity. And a lot of what the pilot has set up for you is that he is this mysterious figure whose agenda is very, very unclear. You can't tell if he's good or if he's bad. Certainly, there's something going on there. The plan is that there may be people who speak for him, but Eddie will return."
According to Entertainment Weekly, before rolling a clip of Bradley's appearance, Sweeny told the audience, "We are subject to the whims of Bradley's schedule."
They also reported that while at the panel, McDorman and his Limitless costar Jennifer Carpenter, who plays FBI Agent Rebecca Harris, joined Sweeny in revealing some behind-the-scenes intell on the drama. The cast also explained the relationship between Brian and Rebecca: they are simply close partners, who understand one another. The relationship is simply platonic, and not one bit romantic, nor will it ever be. "I always look at Rebecca as Brian's closest thing," McDorman said. "She's too many things to be labeled as the romantic interest. I don't think that would be a smart move."
