It seems Lady Gaga found a friend throughout this entire injured hip ordeal. The "Born this Way" singer reportedly got advice from New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez on having hip surgery to repair a labral tear on her right hip.
Apparently Gaga and Rodriguez share the same surgeon, Dr. Bryan Kelly, at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery. How else could surgery get any more special than when being done on Lady Gaga and A-Rod?
A source close to the singer told Page Six of the New York Post that the two simultaneously arrived at the Manhattan hospital this past week. Rodriguez was going for a follow up, while Gaga was preparing for surgery. The source told the New York Post, "It's natural for anyone to be nervous ahead of this type of surgery, especially as a performer or athlete under tremendous pressure to make a quick recovery and be back at peak performance . . . Gaga was anxious, but Alex talked to her for a while and was able to reassure her."
Both had the same surgery, but on different hips. The 37-year-old Rodriguez is expected to be out of action until mid season after his January 16 surgery. Rodriguez told the Post through his spokesman, "I am conducting two rehab sessions each and every day in an effort to get back on the field and rejoin my Yankees teammates."
Gaga already had to cancel the rest of her Born This Way Ball tour, which reportedly could cost the pop star $30 million. There is no word just how long Gaga will be resting for, but her management said the singer will need "strict downtime."
There is no word on whether Gaga and Rodriguez will remain in contact, but considering the similarity of their injuries, maybe they can rehab together! Seeing how passionate some New York Yankees fans can be, it may be Rodriguez who needs the emotional support once the baseball season starts this spring.
