Last month, Kemba Walker's contract with Under Armour expired. Now, Walker plays for the Charlotte Hornets, a team owned by none other than Michael Jordan. So it only makes sense that Walker signs off a deal with the Jordan Brand, right?
On Saturday, according to Slam Online, Hornets point guard, Kemba Walker confirmed that he left Under Armour and signed with the Jordan Brand. Walker was asked whether or not he was officially a Jordan Brand player, in his response Walker turned dramatically in Jasmine's (Jordan's daughter and Hornets coordination of basketball operations) direction and sighed, "Unfortunately..." with a deadpan look like he was crushed, as reported by Black Sports Online.
As reported by Slam Online, Walker had signed a multi deal with Under Armour back when he was a rookie in 2011; the deal was for four years. During his time with Under Armour, Walker wore several "Player Exclusives" but never managed to make it to the signature sneaker level.
Now, Under Armour may have Stephen Curry as the face of their brand at the moment, losing Kemba Walker is still a pretty big deal. Especially considering the fact that Kemba Walker is definitely an All-Star contender, averaging over 17 points and 5 assists per game for the past three seasons.
Walker was seen wearing the Jordan Super.Fly 4 on Saturday before the Hornet's exhibition game against the Clippers in Guangdong, China. (Which is where Clippers' star point guard, Chris Paul recently suffered a broken index finger.)

Walker now joins his teammates, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky on the Jordan Brand roster, according to The Source. Clearly, if you play for Jordan you're definitely an automatic contender for the Jordan Brand, despite the fact that the NBA rules "prohibit" Jordan himself from influencing who the brand gets to sign... especially given the fact that Kemba Walker (who happens to be the face of the Hornets franchise) is now a part of the Jordan Brand.
