Lamar Odom's critical condition still remains unknown, but the 35-year-old NBA superstar was never officially pronounced dead. Apparently rapper Lil Wayne heard otherwise, because the YMCMB hypeman recently tweeted:
@LilTunechi: "R.I.P LO Dam man. My blessings to ur fam and friends."
Several fans immediately went on the defense to stop such a morbid death hoax from spreading online:
@brasilmiss: "Can you idiots stop with the RIP tweets. Have some respect. #LamarOdom."
@CyrusVirtual: "Stop With The RIP Tweets Guys! He Haven't Passed Away! Disrespectful! Hopefully He Pulls Through #LamarOdom."
@zeinabw_: "I honestly hope I don't wake up to RIP Lamar Odom tweets, hope God gives him a second chance."
@OVOCGOD: "Update: Lamar Odom is still alive, and another update - why are people using the hashtag RIP Lamar when he's alive."
@CarlottaMohamed: "#LamarOdom is still alive. Stop posting RIP tweets! Gosh."
@jm_duque3: "Don't BS on RIP Lamar Odom tweets."
@JustScarlette: "Lamar Odom isn't even dead and people already saying RIP. Chill, let the man push through."
@LeekJack_: "Looking at these Lamar odom tweets and people saying rip like he's not still fighting smh... Do your research."
@illMaticSon_92: "Hoping that in the midst of all of this #LamarOdom tragedy. We won't have to say RIP. Instead hear his story on a ESPN 30 for 30 cover."
@DeMarko_: "Don't tweet RIP Lamar Odom while he's fighting for his life just pray for him."
The current situation's definitely no joke - there's a chance that Odom suffered an "ischemic stroke" and may now have severe brain damage. But fellow b-baller JR Smith didn't help with this touching Instagram tribute:
The post was quickly deleted, and Weezy also later apologized after his premature tweet:
@LilTunechi: "Woop."
