Hopefully, the New York Knicks will win more than 17 games this season, especially with Carmelo Anthony in a much healthier state along with their new addition of Kristaps Porzingis. Head coach Derek Fisher recently claimed the Knicks are a lot like the Atlanta Hawks during the 2014-2015 NBA season.

For those of you who don't pay much attention to regular season basketball, during last season, the Atlanta Hawks were the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Standings.

''If rebuilding for us is based on the fact that we don't have a certain caliber of player on our roster quote-unquote other than Carmelo, so people assume that we're rebuilding,'' the New York Post reported. ''But was Atlanta rebuilding last year when they didn't have that quote-unquote player on their roster?"

''So it just depends on who your team is and we think that our group, as we figure some things out, will be more competitive than maybe what people think.''

Now, it's only preseason, and the Knicks are currently number 2 on the Eastern Conference standings, followed by the Charlotte Hornets. (While the Cavaliers are currently no. 15, but then again, it's only preseason and preseason doesn't actually account for anything).

Additionally, according to Yahoo Sports, the Knicks recently chose to sign Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams, Kyle O'Quinn, Kevin Seraphin and Sasha Vujacic. That may not seem like such a big deal (considering these aren't players who would make the team stand out like Carmelo Anthony), but together, they have managed to improve the Knicks thus far.

''We want to win, so we didn't go out and sign six rookies,'' Fisher said. ''We signed quality veteran players because we're trying to win right now.''

It is refreshing to see Fisher have such high hopes and aspirations for the Knicks, as he does his best to avoid another rebuilding season. But if Fisher's comparison deems true, the Knicks will end up losing against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, as the Atlanta Hawks did last season. So maybe his choice of team wasn't the best choice after all. At least isher is keeping his word about this season being a "turnaround" for the Knicks.
