Australia's Rick Springfield, the singer of "Jessie's Girl", will be returning to TV and reprising his role as Dr. Noah Drake on "General Hospital." The singer will join his son Liam Springthorpe for several episodes in April according to People magazine.

While Springfield is returning to the show, his son will be making his first appearance as an undercover cop. Springthorpe tells People that he is actually relieved that he doesn't have any scenes with his father.

"I think it makes it much more pleasing and applicable for me because I think at least for me personally, I have always tried to keep a bit of distance from ... my father's path, and respectfully so."

Springfield talked to People magazine exclusively and told them that his character, Dr. Drake, has plenty of personal baggage he is going to have to deal with.

"He lost his wife and became a drunk and regretted all these terrible, sinful ways and then cleaned his act up when he almost died from the alcohol."

Springfield was last on "General Hospital" back in March of 2012. There is no word on how or if Springfields role on daytime TV will affect his music career.

Springfield announced he will be doing a one-off show at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on June 4. Tickets opened to general sale on Feb. 15. The "Jessie's Girl" singer is promoting his new album "Songs for the End of the World." When discussing his new album with Stereoboard.com, Springfield seems determined to look on the bright side.

"The darker side of my nature creeps in and out, but so does a degree of optimism. In the end, I believe that solace and healing can be found in the presence of someone who understands, loves and accepts you for who you are, even while these looming threats remain."

We will see if Springfield can find any healing when he reprises his role on "General Hospital" as Dr. Noah Drake.
