Back in August, Snoop Dogg's son, Cordell Broadus quit the UCLA football team. This came as a surprise for a lot of people considering Broadus was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, as he was expected to contribute heavily to the Bruins team. Late Tuesday night, Broadus revealed via Instagram, that the reason he even played football was to be loved by his father.

According to AllHipHop.com, Tuesday was Snoop Dogg's birthday, as Broadus took to Instagram to wish his father a happy birthday. In his post dedicated to his father, he explained that the only reason he played football was to make his dad happy:

"I played football for my father because I thought that was the only way he would love me & be apart of my life," he wrote. "It took me 12 years to realize he loves Cordell Broadus the person not Cordell Broadus the football player. The best day of my life was when I heard those exact words; I love you dad hope you have a great birthday"

Now, to back up a bit, Broadus was one of the top-ranked wide receivers in his high school class, but he walked away from football just as training camp was starting. He quit to pursue other passions, as reported by Scout.com.

When Broadus first decided to quit football, his mother, Shante, admitted that his decision came "out of the blue." But later continued that she still supports him as he pursues his new passion to make it as a producer and actor in Hollywood.

"That's my son and I'm supporting him no matter what," she said as reported by TMZ Sports.

Despite the fact that it took Broadus 12 years to come to the realization that his father truly loves and supports him, at least he's finally pursuing what he truly wants.
