'AHS: Hotel' Based on Real Events? True Inspiration Behind Lady Gaga FX Season!

It's a fairly well known fact that the popular FX TV series American Horror Story draws inspiration from real life events. But this season, AHS: Hotel, appears to be more realistic than ever before. Based on the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, the bone chilling true story behind the latest season of AHS might be enough to send you running for the hills!

According to a recent article by TV Guide, this season of American Horror Story may be based on more horrific true events than any other season. So what's AHS Hotel got in store for us on regards to a little bit of real life horror? This is what we know so far.

In the second episode of AHS Hotel, we were introduced to a murderous psychopath named James Patrick March, played by Evan Peters. The character was based on a real life monster, H.H. Holmes. Holmes, the owner of the notorious South Side Chicago  "Murder House" hotel, is just one of the many real-life characters to make their way onto the screen this season.

Even more shocking than the characters, Hotel Cortez, better known in real life as The Cecil Hotel, is actually a real life horror story in itself. As explained in the youtube video below, the Cecil Hotel has ties to some pretty creepy events, quite a few of which have made their way into this season.

According to Screen Crush, earlier this year the show's executive producer, Ryan Murphy, revealed that a recent mysterious death of Cecil Hotel guest Elisa Lam, was the initial motivation behind why AHS Hotel was created in the first place. Elisa, who had been staying at the hotel, mysteriously went missing back in 2013. Her body was eventually found in one of the rooftop water tanks after guests had complained about the taste of the hotels tap water.

What's even creepier is the video footage that was captured of Elisa before she went missing which can be seen below:

So far, the list of realistic horror depictions that AHS Hotel will tie into this season contains notorious serial killers and psychopaths like: The Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Bathory, Aileen Wuornos, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Gordon Northcott.

We'll just have to stay tuned to see whether or not any other true horror stories make their way to the surface in this season of American Horror Story: Hotel.
