Famous dancer siblings Julianne and Derek Hough have teamed up with US cable channel 'Starz' to develop a new scripted TV series entitled "Blackpool." The actress and her brother, who both have regularly appeared on Dancing with the Stars as all-star dancers, are setting out to expose what really goes on in the world of international competitive ballroom dancing, 'Starz' announced Tuesday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be executive produced and choreographed by Derek, 27, and Julianne, 24. It "revolves around the prestigious annual ballroom competition in Blackpool, England and will explore the dancer's obsession with perfection and the darker side of the glamorous world of ballroom dance."

"Their experiences growing up in this highly competitive world are riveting and also shocking," managing director Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement. "There is much more to uncover than what we see on the dance floor."

At this time, the pair have no plans to appear onscreen, though they do intend to be actively involved in the process of hiring and casting.

Other comments on the show from the dancing producers themselves, revealed in Hollywood Reporter include:

"When you're in the world, you're so invested. It's literally the be-all and end-all. But when you step back from it, you see that obsession with perfection and the fact that the lifestyle that you thought was so glamorous is actually a little shocking," Julianne said. This comment comes only weeks after Hough revealed in a Cosmopolitan cover story that she was a victim of physical and emotional abuse as a young dancer living in England.

Derek added, "What makes it so interesting is seeing all of the politics and the scandal. It's framed in the world of ballroom dancing, but the stories that are intertwined are of the partnerships and the sex and the love triangles."

Derek Hough, the only three-time champion on "Dancing With the Stars," started dancing at age 11 in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah,  notes Reuters. He performed in London's West End in the stage version of "Footloose," and was a choreographer on the BBC hit show, "Dance X."

"Viewers are going to see a twisted, sexy, funny, dark and passionate side of the drama and politics in the world of ballroom dance that delves deeper than spray tans and sequins," he said in a statement according to CBS News.

His sister, currently dating Ryan Seacrest, is known for her starring roles in Hollywood movies including FootlooseRock of Ages, Safe Haven and the upcoming Diablo Cody film Paradise.

Although this series will be primarily fiction and not reality for once, America will have a chance to uncover the realest secrets behind the world of ballroom dancing through "Blackpool".
