New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard, nicknamed Thor, is heading to the World Series 2015. This is the perfect opportunity to check out how the baseball pitcher, Thor, beats the Marvel Comics superhero, Thor Odinson.
In an interview with the New York Post, Syndergaard explains how the nickname spawned from last October. The 23-year-old fitness fanatic dressed himself up as Asgardian god of thunder and tweeted a photo of himself in full regalia. You can see the baseball star in full comic book costume while doing squats.
Snydergaard explains, "The home planet of Thor is called Asgard, which is like my last name.It just kind of stuck with me. I guess a Mets fan gave it to me, and I'm not going to say, 'No.' It's not a bad name to have."
Here are 5 ways Noah Syndergaard beats the Marvel hero, Thor:
5) I Wouldn't Want To Arm-Wrestle This Guy
The pitcher tweeted, "It's Halloween! You know what that means? Max out on squats!"
4) He Thinks Amy Schumer Is Funny!
The baseball star had a pretty funny exchange with the Tranwreck comedian on Twitter, stating, "Hey @amyschumer, next time you make a movie and need a 6'6" extra I'm available. I can blend in anywhere. #LGM"
3) He Loves His Momma
On his official Twitter, the rookie right-hander shared a snapshot with his mother that just makes you want to go "Awww!"
Syndergaard writes, "My wonderful mom is raising awareness for Sjogrens Foundation. If u can please help-thx much!"
2) He's The Dork In All of Us
Most of us really hate looking at our high school pictures. Syndergaard is no different than the rest of us. Ben Reiter, Senior Writer, Sports Illustrated, tweeted this snapshot of the baseball icon during his teen heyday. Doesn't his glasses and chubby cheeks make you want to scream, "Urkel?" You too can get past the awkward phase of high school like Syndergaard.
Reiter tweeted, "Remember: this guy can now throw 101. Anything is possible."
1) World Series Ring
Yeah Thor has his hammer, Mjolnir, but Syndergaard is going to get his World Series Ring. Crossing our fingers!
