NeNe Leakes is once again trading in the Georgia peaches for some New York apples. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star proved that she can work the spotlight and command a stage when she played in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, and it looks like she's getting ready to do it all over again. Leakes has announced she will be making her return to the Broadway stage in the musical Chicago.
That's right, Leakes is about to take on the windy city of Chicago as she gets ready to play Mama Morton in the show. According to Page Six, the former Bravo star will be taking to the stage on Nov. 23, and will steal the show until Dec. 20.
Leakes is in great company as People is also reporting on the casting news, mentioning that she will be stepping into the shoes of Queen Latifah, who portrayed the role of Morton in the 2002 Academy Award-winning adaptation of the Bob Fosse musical.
NeNe also took to her Instagram account to share the exciting news with her fans, along with a picture advertising her involvement in the production.

"I'm so excited to say I am headed back to BROADWAY in CHICAGO as Matron Mama Morton! #neneismama #doingwhatilove #broadwaybaby #movingbacktonewyork I will be singing," the starlet wrote.
In related news, it seems that the production is getting a lot of Dancing With the Stars alumni. E! News reports that last season's winner of the ABC competition, Rumer Willis, is just getting ready to end her run in the lead role of Roxie Hart. Willis will finish the role on Nov. 1, a few days before Leakes "checks into" Cook County Jail.
Are you excited for NeNe's broadway return? We know we are.
