Lena Dunham didn't hold back on Twitter this week with her opinion on the Oscars. The star of HBO's "Girls" shared her view on both Anne Hathaway and Oscars host Seth MacFarlane. As usual, the 26-year-old wasn't afraid to take a side.
Dunham tweeted, "Ladies: Anne Hathaway is a feminist and she has amazing teeth. Let's save our bad attitudes for the ones who aren't advancing the cause."
Hathaway, winner of Best Supporting Actress, at the 2013 Oscars has been criticized for her emotional acceptance speeches. She also had recently issued a public apology to her friend and fashion designer Valentino. Hathaway made a last second dress change before the Oscars after she found out her Valentino dress was remarkably similar to the one Amanda Seyfried wore. So when Hathaway came to the Oscars wearing a rival designers dress, she raised some eyebrows.
"I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honour of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself," Hathaway said in a statement to People magazine. "I deeply regret any disappointment caused."
When some of her Twitter followers responded unfavorably to Dunham's tweet, she used her response to seemingly take a dig at MacFarlane's Oscars song "We Saw Your Boobs. Dunham tweeted, "Hey ragers. 'The ones who aren't advancing the cause' I mentioned aren't always, or mostly, women. Case in point: I saw your boobs."
Dunham isn't the only one criticizing MacFarlane's Oscars performance. Many critics slammed MacFarlane for his edgy humor, deeming it tasteless.
It seems like Dunham has chosen sides in both Oscars debates. Mark up "Girls" star Lena Dunham in defense of Anne Hathaway, but against Seth MacFarlane. We will have to wait and see if MacFarlane takes this as an opportunity to make fun of Dunham on one of his Fox comedies, most notably "Family Guy." Could we see Stewie Griffin mentioning Dunham in the shows next episode?
