The View host, Raven-Symone says there were two wrongs in the viral video of the young African-American girl getting manhandled by Deputy Ben Fields in a Spring Valley High School classroom.
In a Hot Topic segment on After The View, the former child actor gave her two cents on how she felt about the violent video.
"The girl was told multiple times to get off of her phone. There's no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, but at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cellphones in school? This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with and he shouldn't been acting like that on top of it," she said.
What do you think about Raven's comments?
Wednesday (Oct. 28), Field s was fired for the horrific incident and Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that he didn't follow procedures and violated department policies.
Accoring to NBC, during a press conference, Lott said, "From the very beginning that's what's caused me to be upset, and (what) continued to upset me is that he picked the student up and threw the student across the room." He added, "What she did doesn't justify what our deputy did. It doesn't justify his actions, but she needs to be held responsible for what she did."
The main issue was that Fields didn't not use "tactical communication to try to talk them into compliance." Although, the troubled student was seen throwing her fist before getting thrown out of her chair and across the room, he says she needs to be held accountable as well.
"What she did doesn't justify what our deputy did. It doesn't justify his actions, but she needs to be held responsible for what she did," Lott said.
