This week has seen a lot of turmoil between Jimmy Kimmel and the singer Morrissey, but now a new statement from the former Smiths frontman slams the late night television host for making fun of gun control, depression and obesity. Morrissey released the following statement today:
I was disappointed with last night's Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans have experienced depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health). He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership - hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt. He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty - who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.
What is going on between these two? First of all, Morrissey is a diva. We get it. Secondly, Jimmy Kimmel is a jerk. We get that, too. Clearly neither one of them is going to budge on either end so expect a lot more stories at least for the rest of the week. Both of these adult men will never, ever be "the bigger person" in any sort of situation. I guess this could be a way for Morrissey to promote his upcoming tour or something. What do you guys think of all of this?
Mstarz covered another Kimmel VS Morrissey story earlier today stating:
After Morrissey decided to cancel his appearance on last night's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" due to show's other guests, cast members of "Duck Dynasty," Kimmel took the opportunity to mock the "Moz" and vegetarianism in general with a special video segment. In the clip from last night's show, the duck hunters from "Duck Dynasty acted out a fake clip from their reality show but with vegetables instead of birds. This of course was funny and a good jab at the melodramatic Morrissey, but the clip was also somewhat of a general attack at the vegetarian lifestyle as well. Jimmy Kimmel has always been known to speak his mind on his show, but attacking a healthy eating choice seems kind of strange, don't you think?
