Anti-poverty charity Comic Relief has paired English-Irish pop sensation One Direction with the classic comic strip "The Beano."

The teenyboppers will appear alongside characters like Dennis the Menace in the monthly spin-off magazine BeanoMAX. Other acts slated to appear in the special edition include Jessie J, "Troublemaker" singer Olly Murs and 10th Doctor, David Tenant.(Check out what 1D look like as comic book characters here).

"We've grown up with the magazine so now to actually appear in it with Dennis and Gnasher themselves is incredible," One Direction said when asked about the opportunity to star in the strip.

The comic will focus on, fittingly enough, a bunch of celebrities trying to host a telethon.

"It was brilliant fun imagining how Jessie, Olly, David and 1D would interact with our mischievous characters," Mike Stirling, editor-in-chief of The Beano and BeanoMax, said in an interview with the BBC.

The special edition of BeanoMAX hits newsstands March 6.
