The sudden death rounds of "American Idol's" season 12 are finally over. The last sudden death round was completed Thursday night and five more male contestants joined the top 20 singers. Thursday night was the last night the judges had to make their decisions before America gets to vote on who they feel should be the next "American Idol."

Unlike Wednesday night's performances where Zoanette Johnson stole the show and propelled herself to the top of the pack, no male contestant was able to create that big of an impact. However, some of the male singers last night did do a nice job.

The first two contestants to sing were Mathenee Treco and Gurpreet Singh Sarin. Unfortunately both were not very good. Mathenee sang Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation," but was blasted by Nicki Minaj who compared his performance to "karaoke." Gurpreet sang James Morrison's "Nothing Ever Hurt Like You" but his performance was also panned by the judges.

The first contestant to put on a solid showing was Vincent Powell with Lenny Williams' "Cause I Love You" song. The classic starving artist who lives in his car killed it with his performance. Mariach Carey summed it up best when she said, "All I can say is, finally."

Next up was NYC bartender Nick Boddington who sang James Morrison's "Say Something Now." What is with all the Jams Morrison songs? The judges seemed torn on his performance, but it was enough to get him on to the next round in what turned out to be a weak class.

The next three contestants were eliminated. These guys are dropping like flies! Josh Holliday, David Oliver Willis, and Bryant Tadeo all failed to impress the judges. Josh sang an original ballad that prompted Randy Jackson to say, "I just don't know if I was wowed by it in this moment." David at least impressed the crowd, but the judges weren't as enamoured with his vocals. Finally, the department store employee from Hawaii sang Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," but it wasn't enough to get him passed the sudden death round.

The last three contestants Burnell Taylor, Lazaro Arbos, and Cortez Shaw all got passed the sudden death round. Burnell's rendition of John Legend's "This Time" put him in the lead. Minaj remarked, "The best by far tonight...Nobody else was even in your lane tonight, period!"

Lazaro made it passed by performing Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry" and Cortez made a bold choice by peforming David Guetta's "Titanium."

The five contestants moving on to join the top 20 are Cortez, Lazaro, Burnell, Nick and Vincent. Unfortunately for Mathenee, Gurpreet, Josh, David, and Bryant they have reached the end of the road.
