Kate Middleton Baby Bump: Royal Due Date Approaching, Any News on Names?

With Kate Middleton's baby bump growing and her July due date getting closer and closer, we are all curious as to what names will be bestowed upon the royal baby. Earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth publicly announced that if the child were a girl her title would indeed be "Princess" and "Her Royal Highness, " and a boy would be "Prince." But what do we say after the regal titles?

As soon as the pregnancy was announced, rumors of what the 31-year-old Duchess of Cambridge and her 30-year-old husband, Prince William, would call the noble offspring sprung forth. Would they stick to tradition and pick a name reminiscent of the British monarchy? Could they look into Kate's family history for inspiration? Or perhaps they will come up with something more original and change history? It is hard to say even as the due date approaches. There have been no reports on the naming situation even with the "baby bump" growing and growing.

There has yet to be an announcement on the sex of the baby as well. This royal secret will be bugging followers up until the announcement, but it is fun to consider the possibilities. The Queen herself recently announced that, no matter the name, the young heir would have a stately title to accompany it. She declared "that all the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of royal highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honour." This is a step towards gender equality and modernization in general. The Royal family has recently shown great acceptance to these topics.

So whether the baby is a Prince or Princess, we will have to endure a few more months for the big day but perhaps a shorter amount of time for the gender reveal. According to a source close to the family, William is hoping for a daughter. What names would you like the new generation of the British monarchy to have?
