Prince William might be a father-to-be, but that does not mean that he is too busy to get in his helicopter and save stranded hikers from a mountaintop in Wales. As a Search and Rescue Operations flight lieutenant in the Royal Air Force, the Prince has actually added this recue to another he helmed last summer. This week's recue took place in Snowdonia, North Wales, where two unidentified hikers in their 40s and 50s were forced to make camp on top of the mountain.

After not being able to contact the couple, a friend phoned authorities leading to the deployment of a Search and Recue Unit piloted by the Duke of Cambridge himself. The couple was then airlifted to safety. These lucky hikers have yet to identify themselves or make any comments concerning this week's rescue. Prince William has not released any statements either.

This is not the first time we are hearing of how heroic the monarch can be in his helicopter. Just the past summer he rescued Darlene Burton and her husband Lawrence Oakley after Darlene slipped and broke her leg on a hike near the Anglesey coast. "It was a really awkward place for the paramedics to work on her," Oakley shared. The two apparently were not affected by the Prince's presence, saying, "They all know up here that that's his job. He assisted in helping Darlene when they moved the stretcher out (of the helicopter)."

His rescue of these Canadian hikers came less than a week after he airlifted a pair of teenager who had been swept out to sea. While body-boarding , these teens had reportedly fought "a losing battle" with the water and ended up stranded and struggling to stay alive. Winchman, Master Aircrew Harry Harrison stated the following to the BBC:

"When I got to her, the elder girl was clearly exhausted and was going under the water for what was the very last time. We never know what we'll face when we're called out. Sometimes it's just a twisted ankle or a broken bone, but this was one rescue where we truly did arrive in the nick of time and managed to save two young lives."

Prince William has been with the Search and Rescue Operations since 2010. These heroic rescues are all just part of the job to which he has regularly admitted to enjoying. Perhaps he will pass some of these heroic traits onto his child with Kate Middleton, due to be born in July of this year.
