Season 4 of Arrow is rolling along, and we have gotten plenty of development on several of the main characters thus far. However, one mystery still remains on fans' minds, and that is the identity of Felicity Smoak's (Emily Bett Rickards) father. So when will we learn who he is? We've got some spoilers on that, so read on to find out.
Papa Smoak's identity has been a topic of discussion among fans for several seasons, particularly since the end of Season 2 when Felicity first truly mentioned him but didn't give any details about who he was. In the Season 3 episode, "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," we got more background on the character but didn't learn much more about her father. We did, however, meet her mother, Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross) in that episode.
Donna returned later in Season 3 in the episode in which Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) was dying in the hospital and Felicity needed to find a way to save him. Donna pointed out that she could tell her daughter really loved Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), not Ray. As they tried to save Ray, she made a comment about what her father would do if he were here in this situation.
So, we've gotten hints about Felicity's father for quite some time, but when will actually see him? The good news is it will be this season! The bad news is it will probably happen much, much later on in the year. The following comes from the "Matt's Inside Line" column at TVLine.
"When will Arrow fans learn about Felicity’s father? –Kyle
Not anytime especially soon, it sounds like. 'I don’t know anything about my dad,' Emily Bett Rickards said on set last week, 'except that he’s probably going to be a villain and he’s rich and that he comes in this season.'"
That's an interesting remark for the actress to make, especially because several fans have theorized that Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) is actually Felicity's father. Then again, it could be another villain altogether. We'll just have to wait and see.
When do you think we'll meet Felicity's father? Let us know in the comments section below.
