Once Upon A Time's red-headed brave star, Merida, will turn to the dark side in Sunday night's episode. The Dark Swan has possessed her heart and her intentions of making Rumplestiltskin confident will go downhill when she is forced to target all of her efforts on killing Belle. In a recent interview, actress Amy Manson (Merida) shed some spoiler light on just what fans should expect in this week's episode.
"Merida kidnaps Belle for a reason which you will find out in Sunday's episode. She requires Belle's help to help her in her quest to save her brothers, who have been kidnapped by the united clans of DunBroch, because they're unsure if Merida can actually lead, being a woman on her own," Manson explained.
Merida and Belle end up journeying together to DunBroch in their attempt to save the brothers. At first, the two do not get along, but over the course of their quest, they become friends. That friendship is tested when Emma orders Merida to kill Belle. In an interview with TVLINE, Manson talked about how Emma's powers may not have total control over Merida's will.
"Merida doesn't want to do it, and what ends up happening is a formation has arisen in her own mind of how she can avenge Emma and Emma's decision, how she can get her heart back, and if there's any way that she can pull Gold into helping her. That's what you find out this week, that even though she's under Emma's control, Emma doesn't exactly know what's going on when she's with Gold. She has a hidden agenda, for sure."
Fans have welcomed Manson's character with open arms this season and have shared their admiration in reviews and on social media. With Merida being tempted by the dark side, it will be interesting to see if she is able to stay in good grace with Once Upon A Time fans or lose their trust for the remainder of the season.
Once Upon A Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
