After a tough recovery following a tragic car accident in 2014, comedian Tracy Morgan is making his comeback. Last month, the 30 Rock actor announced the dates for his Picking Up The Pieces comedy tour, which is slated to begin in early 2016 and ticket prices are already rising.
The 33-date tour will begin on February 5 in Hammond, Indiana at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino and will extend until May 28 in Westhampton Beach, New York where it raps up at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. The comedy tour run marks the first time in well over a year that Morgan will take to the main stage. Last month, the comedian performed at Comedy Cellar in New York City, which was his first time on stage in over 16 months, NPR reports.
With just under three months before the tour begins, tickets to see Tracy Morgan on the resale market are averaging $123, with large demands in markets like New York City, Ridgefield, Connecticut and Huntington, New York. Currently, the most expensive stop on Morgan's comedy tour run is his April 15 performance at The Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut, where an average ticket is $308, with a get-in of $258. The cheapest date on the calendar is his April 23 date in Reading, Pennsylvania at the Santander Performing Arts Center, where an average ticket is $88 with a get-in of $62. With multiple performances lined up in the Big City, fans can see their favorite comedian through Hipmunk.com, booking flights to New York City for any of his upcoming shows. Those inside the tristate metro area can find New York hotel deals on Hipmunk to complete the commute.
In June 2014, Morgan was involved in a limo crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that devastatingly killed comedian James McNair. Morgan was in a coma after the accident and suffered broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and brain trauma, CNN reported. Neither McNair nor Morgan was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
Morgan's first major return appearance was at the 2015 Emmy Awards in September, where he surprised fans by presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series. On October 17, Morgan made a triumphant return to host Saturday Night Live with guest appearances from 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer.
