An Indian fan of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan filed an official complaint against the Khan's endorsing company and after two years of fight with the jurisdiction he won almost $22,000.
A television commercial of Indian cosmetic Company Emami Fair and Handsome featured Khan. The commercial encapsulates Khan's story of a struggling Delhi boy who became one of the biggest star in the world, the TV commercial also claimed that the fairness cream played a crucial role in the making of Khan the superstar of the this generation.
Nikhil Jain from Delhi saw Khan's advertisement but at the end of it, he was very disappointed because of the end results of it. Jain argues that the fairness cream has not helped him becoming 'fair and handsome' which the commercial claimed.
According to Times of India, Jain had bought the cream on Oct. 8, 2012, on the advice of Khan to become fair in three weeks of time. Jain further claims that this has caused him "huge mental injury," which led him to file an official complaint under the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF).
Jain along with his brother, Paras, decided to challenge the Emami Company under Unfair Trade Practice. Paras presented his brother's case in the Consumer Forum and fought for more than two and a half years. Earlier this week, the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum imposed Punitive Damages penalty of $22,000 on the company.
Along with that, the Consumer Forum has even ordered the company to withdraw all those commercials, which promises dramatic transformation in dark skin complexion.
Khan is currently wrapping the shoot for his upcoming romantic film Dilwale and will be sharing the screen with Kajol, who was not available for the comment.
