Atoms for Peace have added tour dates to their European summer lineup. The tour is set to kickoff July 6 in Paris and is scheduled through July 26 in London. The super group will perform live for the first time since Japan's Fuji Rock festival in 2010.
Atoms for Peace consists of Radiohead's Thom Yorke and producer Nigel Godrich, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and percussionists Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. The group released its debut album AMOK last month. The band first started in 2009 after Thom Yorke needed a group to perform his The Eraser album with. Billboard is reporting that the super group could find itself in the Billboard 200's top 10. The album has gotten solid reviews from critics.
NPR's Stephen Thompson writes about the AMOK album, "Thanks to the instrumental help of additional collaborators, Amok finds a way to meet in the middle between a buzzy bedroom project like The Eraser and Radiohead's own full-blooded grandiosity - in part because the new album so effectively blurs the lines between electronics and live instrumentation. But Amok still fits squarely into Yorke's more interior solo sound world: a man pacing worriedly in his basement instead of sending his voice piercing heavenward, but sounding no less vital in the process."
The Atoms for Peace Summer tour consists of the following tour stops. The group is also scheduled for stops in Berlin March 8 and New York City March 14. Many of the stops on the European tour are festival appearances, including the Pohoda Festival in Slovakia, the Exit Festival in Serbia, and the City Sound Festival in Milan. Tickets for the tour are scheduled to go on sale this Friday with pre-sale opportunities on Wednesday.
