Mel B has only been working one day at her new gig as judge on "America's Got Talent," but has already angered fans by saying she "doesn't like brass" while in New Orleans, which lead to boos and general anger from locals. During auditions in the Louisiana city, a popular New Orleans brass band, Lagniappe, performed. The former Spice Girl was blunt in her judging, saying she just was not a fan of the horns. Almost immediately, the crowd reportedly started booing and said things such as "go home" and "no respect."
New Orleans is known for its Dixieland, jazz and big band music cultures. Clearly a comment like this from a British pop star would anger the residents of the historical town. Many people are charging Mel B with ignorance, saying she should have done some research beforehand, but other than that it looks like the incident will blow over. She had a rough first day. I am sure some of us can relate. There have been no comments from the other judges (Heidi Klum, Howard Stern and Howie Mandel) about the booing.

Mel B said she was thrilled to join the talent show, adding in a statement, "It's so exciting to be bringing some Girl Power to the panel!"
