Harrison Ford, the acting legend who gave us such iconic characters as Indiana Jones and Han Solo, has confirmed that he will appear in the long-awaited sequel "Anchorman: The Legend Continues", according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Ford will star opposite Will Ferrell and Steve Carell as a veteran newscaster. Photos from the New Orleans set show that Ford has dyed his hair brown and cropped his looks in order to look a little younger in the role.
Ferrell and Carrell will reprise their roles of San Diego news anchor Ron Burgundy and bumbling weatherman Brick Tamlin, respectively. Christina Applegate will also be back in her role as female anchor and Burgundy love interest Veronica Corningstone, who caused much of the conflict in the first film by trying to break into the all-boys club of the local news show.
Little is known of the plot though producer Judd Apatow assured MTV News that the movie will be hilarious. Apatow told them of a script read-through that dissolved into hysterical laughter among the cast of comedy veterans.
"We read it a few weeks ago and people were laughing so hard that at about 40 minutes in we all just ran out of gas," Apatow said.
The anchorman role will be the first for Ford since 2011's Daniel Craig-starring flop "Cowboys and Aliens."
This isn't the biggest role on Ford's calendar, however. The actor is set to play legendary space smuggler Han Solo once more in the upcoming, JJ Abrams helmed "Star Wars: Episode VII", according to several reports.
A teaser trailer for the film has been released in which Ferrell as Burgundy invites viewers to "ride the Palomino stallion." The trailer ends with sportscaster Champ (David Koechner) saying
"We're gonna be broadcasting from a hot tub full of scotch." Check it out below:
