Anyone who said social media doesn't bring families together needs to take a look at Oliver Hudson and his father Bill Hudson. The Nashville star took to his Instagram page on Father's Day, where he now infamously posted a picture of him, his estranged dad, and his sister Kate Hudson. While it might be seen as a nice sentiment, Oliver wrote under the picture "Happy Abandonment Day." However, it looks like this post has actually started to bring the family back together.
According to Us Weekly, the Scream Queens actor has stated that what was meant to be a joke actually got him to communicate with his father, after not talking for more than a decade.

"It actually started a dialogue," the star explained, during an appearance on Andy Cohen's Bravo series Watch What Happens Live. "I haven't talked to my father in 12 years. In my dark, crazy sense of humor, I posted this 'Happy Abandonment Day' thing, which everyone went crazy over, and I was just trying to be funny. And at the end of the day it was a good thing."
"We're communicating now, [I] had an amazing three-hour conversation with him," Oliver continued. "We're texting, trying to see each other. So, you know, we might be mending something."
It seems that Bill, who originally had a negative response to the post, has started to come around and has been reaching out to his son.
Bill spoke out to the Daily Mail shortly after the picture was posted, saying, "That was like a dagger to the heart. If what he wanted was me out of their lives, then he's succeeded. I don't want to see either of my eldest children ever again. It's over."
