'Empire' Season 2 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Bre-Z, Bryshere Y. Gray Gatz/Hakeem Rap Battle!

Fox continues with the musical Season 2 soap opera of Empire. In last night's Episode 8, Twitter had lots to say as Freda Gatz (Bre-Z) and Hakeem Lyon ( (Bryshere Y. Gray) had an epic confrontation in a rap battle.

In our previous recap, Lucius (Terrence Howard) learned he needed to dig deeper in order his new track to be successful. After scoring a successful and lucrative business deal, Mimi (Marissa Tomei) and Luscious celebrated with a lineup of high-class escorts. While Mimi dealt with a broken relationship, Luscious was haunted by memories of his childhood. Luscious abandoned his threesome and returned to the studio to record.

In our recent recap, Lucius put Gatz on stage and let her humiliate his son with her lyrics. After calling her out, Hakeem had doubts whether or not he could beat Freda in a rap battle. Giving his brother advice, Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) told Hakeem to be the performer and win the crowd over. As soon as the crowd started chanting, Hakeem dropped the mic and got back at his father, dropping his last name, Lyon.

In an interview with Variety, showrunner Ilene Chaiken reveals how the scene came about, "Both of these actors are real - they really are these musicians that they portray. It was loads of fun to shoot. We could have just let the whole episode be the rap battle. We could have just shot the rap battle and said, there you go, there's "Empire!" We shot three rounds because in reality, a rap battle is three rounds, but in the world of television, you can't have three rounds in 42 minutes. But I had many conversations with Yazz about, "Trust me! It still works even though we didn't play the first round." I just want the whole world to see that rap battle though."
