Earlier this week, singer Taylor Swift slammed Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for their Golden Globes joke aimed at the "I Knew You Were Trouble" starlet and now the comediennes have responded.
Mstarz covered this story, and here is a brief recap:
While hosting the awards ceremony, Fey told Swift to "stay away from Michael J. Fox's son" and focus on herself with "me time." Then Poehler told Taylor to "go for it." The Internet did not like this joke and apparently neither did the country star and pop sensation. When asked what she thought of the joke, Swift responded: "You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, 'There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women.'"
Soon after the Vanity Fair interview hit the web, The Hollywood Reporter contacted Amy Poehler about the comment and the "Parks And Recreation" star said: "Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. "
It also should be mentioned that Amy Poehler runs a YouTube channel that is dedicated to "empowering young girls."
Last night while on the red carpet for the New York premiere of her film, Admission, Tina Fey got the chance to address the Taylor Swift remark as well, saying: "I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke."
So hopefully this controversy is behind the actresses and the singer. Read the rest of the Vanity Fair interview of Taylor and stay tuned to Mstarz in case the 23-year-old keeps this story going. Do you think she'll accept these comments as apologies and move on? Here is a clip of the joke in question:
