Goofy yet lovable "Modern Family" star Red Ewing just "came out" as gay on Twitter. But what's the big deal - he was never hiding his sexuality to begin with!

Earlier this month, 27-year-old Ewing shared this viral shout-out on Twitter:

@media_reid: "Saw Eugene Bata on @GMA in the Body Dysmorphia segment connected to my article and I just want to say he is hot af."

Wait - did he just deem another man attractive? Some fans were somewhat confused...

@MichaelJMapes: "@media_reid Did you also just out yourself??

So Ewing quickly posted a rather clever response:

@media_reid: "@MichaelJMapes I was never in."

Now, several online supporters continue congratulating Ewing on this exciting "announcement," although the "Fright Night" actor can't really understand why:

@media_reid: "Writes a cosmetic surgery article, people care more that I'm gay..."

Ewing just published an amazing essay for Huffington Post, describing his personal struggles with body dysmorphia. He once got cheek implants to look more like Brad Pitt:

"After all the swelling went down, the results were horrendous. The lower half of my cheeks were as hollow as corpse's, which, I know, is the opposite of what you'd expect, as they are called cheek implants. They would be more aptly called cheekbone implants." As he continued to be unhappy with the results of more surgeries, and he became addicted to going under the knife, so he chose to write this op-ed to raise awareness.

But after overcoming this addiction to plastic surgery, Ewing wanted to share his story to help spread awareness:

"It's a problem that is rarely taken seriously because of the public shaming of those who have had work done. The secrecy that surrounds cosmetic surgery keeps the unethical work practiced by many of these doctors from ever coming to light. I think people often choose cosmetic surgery in order to be accepted, but it usually leaves them feeling even more like an outsider. We don't hear enough stories about cosmetic surgery from this perspective."

Ewing still shares rather entertaining updates on Twitter, so keep an eye on his account for more "words of wisdom."
