Philadelphia rapper Beanie Sigel will have to spend more time in prison after he was charged with possession of illegal substance.

Sigel will be facing between six to 23 months in prison on account of him entering the guilty plea on drug charges. He was in possession of illegal drug, Percocet. Percocet is a painkiller. He also had codeine cough syrup, and other pills. The police also found fully loaded .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in the dashboard of his car.

The rapper is already serving prison time for two years on charges of tax evasion as he had not paid $728,000 in federal taxes since 1999 to 2005.

Sigel whose real name is Dwight Grant was arrested by the police after traffic stop in Tinicum Township. Earlier to his arrest he had released his sixth studio album "This Time" that included guest appearances form Akon, Game, Corey Latif Williams, Junior Reid, Young Chris, and Sigel's own group State Property.

The 38-year-old emcee was a former member of Roc-A-Fella Records. He is also the head of his rap group, State Property that includes Philly rappers Freeway, Peedi Peedi, Oschino, and Omillio Sparks, and the Young Gunz (Young Chris and Neef Buck) and female R&B singer Casha.

Sigel's lawyer Carson Morris told the court that the rapper had made mistakes and he wants to put his past behind and look ahead. "Mr. Grant has been a successful entertainer and musician in the Philadelphia community for decades. Obviously, he's had an incredible amount of success and opportunity in his life. He's also made some mistakes, which have ended up putting him in custody. He's ready to go ahead and put that behind him and move on with his life," Contactmusic reported.

"He has a lot of catching up to do, but he also has a lot of talent and a lot of opportunity, hopefully. So the prospect is that he can get out and move on and start doing something productive with his life," the lawyer said.

The drug charge will be concurrent to his tax evasion charge, this is as a result of him entering the guilty plea, Vibe reported.
